I have been a fan of Toad since high school and unfortunately right when I started having money to go to concerts they broke up. So I had to rest in best compilations and one live cd to console me for 10 years.

Then I found out they were going to be at the OC FAIR and immediately told Becky we were going. The set had alot of goodies with some of my favorites left out, but they sounded great. This was their first concert in over a year and I didn't notice one thing off.

For those of you that have not had the pleasure of hearing Toad might I suggest the album P.S. to get you started. "It's so choice, if you have the means, I highly reccommend picking one up."

The next concert we are going to is MAE in August. Let me just say that after 24 years of hiatus they played together as if it was 1985. It was simply amazing. They played all the hits, and had some really cool improvisation on alot of the tunes. I've seen Sting live before and he played some Police songs, but dude nothing like the original power trio.

Because I was never old enough to ever see them play live, this is possibly one of the best concerts I have ever been to. The Warriors have been the laughing stock of the league for the past 14 years and have continually grown stars only to trade them away or let them go in free agency. Basically the Washingtons Wizards are a Warriors team of a couple years ago with Arenas and Jamison (both All Stars).

Our day has finally come. With Nellie back and the monster trade of the season in place, the Warriors have finally built a team of young yet talented players that have heart and a passion to turn around the franchise.

A classic David and Goliath tale when it comes to match ups. the 8th seed versus the 1 seed. The team that barely crawled in to the playoffs on the last day of the season and the giant that held the best record and secured a playoff spot 2 months before the season ended.

I wouldn't say 14 years of failure made last night worth the wait, but I will say that it was one of the best playoffs series I have ever seen and to win it at home in slaughtering fashion was a sweet appetizer for the full course that are the playoffs.

In my opinion, our chances are amazing. Houston/Utah in the second round? Both teams are playing horrible right now and we are on fire.

In short, I'm stoked.

Lastly, Charles Barkley is a complete tool. I can't believe he gets paid to sit there and just complain all night long. He's not in my five, and I hope he lost a grip of money betting against the Warriors!

Sharks Eat Ducks For Dinner

I was at the game last night. Probably the best hockey game I have ever been to. With the Sharks down 2-0 after the end of the first period, and the Pacific title at stake, they rallied back in the 2nd and scored two goals to equalize it. The closing minutes of the game and overtime were quite simply, insane. Lots of breakaways, sliding skate saves, fights, and powerplays, but the Sharks held on to make it to a shootout.

Ducks chose to go first and boom, 1 goal.

Then Cheechoo squared it up ith his wrister.

Big Stick Selane totally lost the handle on his shot. Maybe he's not used to legal size blades...

Clowe comes through with backhand goal #2.

It's all up to McDonald for the Ducks....and....whiff!

SHARKS WIN!

So awesome to close out the last Ducks home game on their fan appreciation night and school them up.

sweet sweet victory.

Weekend Update

Hello friends,

I know this blog is primarily for fun and all things awesome, but I figured I'd let you, the faithful reader, a little insight as to the life of Joe. Exciting news in abundance.

1. We are now 68 days away from the BIG day.

2. Planning is going full force, invitations to be distributed next week or so.

3. I have found a place to live once married. It's a lovely apartment in the city of Ladera Ranch. you can check out where we are going to live @ www.laderaranch.com

4. I have finally gotten plugged in to ministry at PCC. I have been an ultimate loser while working down here and haven't really contributed to the church. God is good, and has allowed me a place where hopefully I can further his Kingdom. I have met some just stellar people and look forward to growing together with them.

5. Since I now have an apartment locked in, I get to TV shop. This is pretty much what I spend my freetime doing at this point. I know..it sounds pretty fleshly and materialistic. But, to some extent, I believe God put a desire in the hearts of men to research and basically "hunt" for the best TV for them. I am in much joy right now, looking for the best deal. Ultimately I tell myself it will be used in fellowship and thus I have justified the TV purchase. :).

6. On a not so awesom note, I have contracted a sore throat. sad times.

7. This past week I can definately see God's hand at work in this world. So often we forget that our God is the God of the Bible and the true God of all creation. He is the God of my job, my money, my down time, my thoughts, etc. I tend to compartamentalize (sp?) life and keep my spiritual beliefs separate from work and logical practical life decisions concerning finances, choices, and what not. I'm such a loser at times.

God has shown me through the past week at work that I pretty much don't know anything. My humanely worrying about certain issues is really a lack fo trust and faith in Him and that reliance is something that I tend to overlook as a basic Biblical principle for the Christian life. If God is who He claims to be, and He possesses the power and might that is written about Him, then why do I try to do things on my own?

These past two paragraphs probably don't flow, or make alot of sense to you as the reader, but thats okay. I know I didn't really support any of these findings with specific events or examples. I guess as I sit here and think about the grandness of God and the smallness of myself I find great joy in that fact, and hope you would think about that for a second and maybe a smile would come to your face as well.

John 3:31-36

Like I said exciting times.

Thanks guys.

MUNNY finished.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6518nYP7LsA/ReeD0a1VYtI/AAAAAAAAAAw/o-dx-ypsHg0/s400/MUNNY-finished-web-1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5037139644816646866" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_6518nYP7LsA/ReeD1K1VYuI/AAAAAAAAAA4/GSsFI0ArFnk/s400/MUNNY-finished-web-2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5037139657701548770" />

I'm so MUNNY and I don't even know it!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_6518nYP7LsA/ReaDU61VYsI/AAAAAAAAAAk/X0NjPq0XdkY/s400/MUNNY-web.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5036857628674056898" />
Ladies and Gentlemen,

I have return from hiatus and would like to show you a little bit of artwork and paraphernalia for my new side project brand/identity.

If you have never heard of MUNNY, or anything Kid Robot-esque, you are severely at a disadvantage. The world of MUNNY is that of designer vinyl toys. Yes toys. but design it yourself cool artsy, cutting edge toys. I submit for your approval my MUNNY that I just completed this evening. I have literally had the blank white MUNNY for probably a good 3 months. I mean I liked the movies, but I never bought them or was like, "Dude...Rocky...Yeah!" And ultimately, me being a child, I thought Rocky IV was the best of the five. You know Drago V Rocky, Cold War implications, The rise of Dolph Lundren, Apollo dying, working out in the freaking snow with poop equipment, yeah those were the times.

However, looking back I never truly appreciated Rocky I and understood that the subsequent sequels were really just Hollywood trying to make a buck.

That being said, I present you Rocky Balboa, The perfect bookend to the original Rocky. I was VERY VERY VERY hesitant to see it. Just because I was like, come Sly, another Rocky @ 60 years old? Box office bust my amigo. It's like Rocky went from the Italian Stallion to the out of shape goomba, who will want to see this?

I was wrong my friends. I actually loved this movie. Sly wrote, produced and directed this sucker and you know what, Kudos to him. It closed up so many things for Rocky and left out the hollywood flash and story and brought Rocky back to his roots. The Philly slums, running a restaurant, helping people less fortunate than him. He's got stuff in the basement and needs to get the beast out.

4/5 Stars for me, really pumped you up and pulled on the heart strings. Free samples of food - whilst cruising the warehouse for super factory direct, non-credit processing deals, you can soothe the groans of the spare tire by taking in a little mashed potatoes perhaps, a lovely dixie cup of juicy juice, a cinnamon butter croissant wedge, and the end all piggies in a blanket. The best part of this is I can literally stand in front of the generous vendor, who looks like the lunch lady ( I like to call her my 82 year yound Madame of the Sample), and just keep taking the samples. In fact I have gone to look at dvds and she will even tell me when to come back to get fresh baked ones! Brilliant!

2. If you feel the need to pay for your food - The hotdog/coke combo is probably the best value meal known to man, even ahead of the #2 @ in-n-out, mightier than the Baja Sampler #3 Baja Fresh, and yes, tastier than even the Del Deal @ Del Taco. Not to mantion the chicken bake, pizza and churros!

and finally...

3. Andrea Bocelli, in full HD, singing his sonets of love - Okay, without sounding completely "askew," I really dug the concert they were showcasing on their plasmas and LCDs. I never really got in to the Bocelli before but when he showed off his glorious pipes in 5.1 HD sound, I was captivated. I mean check out that pic. How else is this guy going to get the chicks? Bocelli voica no resisto!

A Long Time Ago on a Computer Far Far Away...

Guys,

It has been way too long since I last blogged. Shiloh showed me the ways of torrenting, and granted it seems like a killer idea with mucho upside. However, for the past couple of days I have been very dissappointed @ the interface and speed of acquisition.

I have tried basically every client there is, transmission, tomatoe, BT, etc. and they are all the same as far as speed of DL. I am literally downloading @ speeds of .1 kbps. Not 1, which is really poop school anyway, but .1. .1 PEOPLE! So uncool. I had made a statement about me being in the stone age using Prodigy on my Tandy whilst I play Wolfenstein 3-d, Duke Nukem, and other various Apogee games. I mean I am down with waiting ya know a couple hours for something, but to have something downloading for like weeks on end? In the words of our governor, "Do it, do it now...kill me, kill me now." "What are you wating for!"

I could probably build my own software in faster time than torrenting it. Did I say software? I meant torrenting "read me" files. I finally sprung for this Ibanez, but instead of the Bubinga, I opted for the Ash body with the cutaway and the AE electronics. This baby comes with built in tuner, 1/4 inch and direct outputs, and EQ. Pardon the picture though. The stock photo can make this guitar look rather "fairy-ish" But that's only becaue it makes the wood look light, like something "jewel" or Melissa Etheridge" would play. The guitar itself is actually much darker, and looks like something, Arnold Shwartzenegger, or Sly Stallone would play. But it has been good building up my calices all afternoon, I haven't oned a guit-fiddle in about a year and a half. It's probably the gateway drug to all other Mac paraphernalia. I'm sure I will be paying $100 for a mouse with one button in the future. Why? Because I became an addict with the Mini. Next thing you'll know I will be battling myself over whether I should get dualing 20"s or one 23"...;) (you will understand that if you read the futon.)

Alas, so far so good. You can find almost anything on the bay.

Hugsy Penguin - 30 results
Spider-man comic - 1 Gazillion results
Razr Cell Phone - 2 Gazillion results

In that sense ebay is man's answer to supply and demand. If it's too expensive to buy it from the store, or hard to find, I just go typety type type and bada bing it's mine.

perfect.

except for that you are dealing with the unknown abyss of Sellers from who knows where.

This is today's bedtime story.

So I buy alot of stuff from ebay, phones, books, comics, jerseys, etc. I purchased a 25 year old comic on around 8/2. It had not arrived until today 8/21...20 days later. This would normally be okay if the Seller would keep me abreast of the situation. Instead, we have lies, deceit, and a cover up known as ebay-gate.

He tells me it shipped immediately and it must be the Post Office, and believe me, the USPS is a whole nother bunch of numbskulls. (disclaimer: if you are a postal worker and my friend, please erase the last sentence from your memory.) so I say okay. Turns out, he didn't even send it until 4 days ago, 8/16. so he's had my hard earned, case of the "mundaze" cash in his pocket for 2 weeks with no shippy on his side.

I had been emailing him about 4 times to give me a tracking number or something. The whole time he lied to me saying it shipped way back when.

Then it arrives. dude. I surprised someone didn't look at the package and it just fall to pieces. It wasn't even a package. It was random shards of cardboard shuffled together with some packing tape to mummify the thing. my address was made out of a piece of paper ripped into a triangle and taped to the cardboard as part of the mummification. no return address.

So I leave neutral feedback after all this. because in the end the product did get here.

what do I get in return. a fat Negative feedback for not emailing him more.

what in the world....

MORAL: Kids, save your money.

The G-Men ©

sigh....This blog's for the faithful in the Bay Area.

I swear, the Giants are like the child that never listens and always gets in to trouble. The Giants gave up 10 runs in 1 and 1/3 innings, the first 1 and 1/3. Frankly I'm embarrased.

questions to ponder:

Why doesn't Sabean get a clue and realize that our pitching is a hot bag of poop?

Why did the trades we made before the deadline do us absolutely no good?

Why is Barry completely deflated after getting off the Moo Juice? Failure of a team that should be regarded as a major player in the MLB, what with their city, their fans, their stadium, their history...and yet, we are fine with just being a middle of the pack kind of franchise.

I call out you, Felipe Alou and Brian Sabean. This however is a smooth $299.

just in case you wanted to get me something. ;)

The Freedom Five ©

I have two minutes to write this blog. This is basically a sequal to last nights revelations about "Phunday."

So at exactly 5:00pm PST, a glorious moment occurs. What, pray tell, am I referring to?

The Freedom Five.

This is the five hours you have per weekday to do as you please. Basically my weekdays begin at 7:00am and the rest of the day is a countdown ticker to the FF. I know the name kind of sounds like a mutant task force, but it's not.

I think I am going to come up with a logo for the five. Maybe like a clock where the hands are ties and the number five has like a party hat on it. You know like when you turn 30 and to make people feel better they make the number look all happy with a kazoo, cone hat and streamers. Maybe the five should have like arms and legs and a face. Maybe it should look like "Peanut Butter Jelly Time Banana." Yeah all pixelated and nasty looking because we are white collar lower middle class kind of guys.

Hum.....

Phundays ©

Why in the world do weekends go so fast. During the week It's like I could read a freaking Tolstoy novel while I'm at the office and only 30 minutes go bye.

Dudes, let us ammend the Constitution, Declaration, State Laws, NATO, whatever we have to in order to make weekends 3 days long.

I am so all over 3 days of weekend-dom. Let's be honest, Friday rolls around, yeah you have Friday night, but with traffic, and getting off at 5-6pm I mean you are kind of limited lest you be one of those swingers types that goes to bed at 6 in the morning.

This makes Friday kind of a wash.

Saturday. This is the only true day of rest...sort of. The big question is, "Do I sleep in, or no?" If I sleep in Saturday's gone. If I wake up early, I get more Saturday, but no luxury of sleeping in. I do have to run a million errands that didn't get done this week...Decision, decisions.

Sundays. Gotta get up early for church and then don't get home till about 1-2pm after lunch and what not. This is definately not a bad thing, but it does cut in to the day heavily. Then everybody and their mother goes to the "Triple Threat" - Target, Walmart, Costco. Which allows you to fight for parking, wait in line, and buy cleaning supplies.

All this brings us to the now, as I write this blog. wouldn't be great to have that extra day to actually truly relax. It would be like, Fri, Sat, Sun, Phunday. Spelled with a "ph" because "F" would be to obvious.

Anybody want to petition with me? Man Sunday nights are lame...sigh.

My Other Job ©

If you don't know already, I am a big fan of comic books. Most people think they are lame (everyone's entitled to their own opinion...even if they are wrong.) but I just love the artwork and the stories are written by top notch talent.

That being said, whenever I have some free time at night, like Fridays when Becky is baby sitting, I take the opportunity to do some sketches and dream of a drawing for a living when I grow up.

I figured I'd share with you some of my recent work from my sketch book and see what you think. (disclaimer - most of the work is composite, which means I looked at real artists work, and tweaked it a little to my liking. They aren't traces, and sometimes the flash washes out the artwork...enjoy :))

My Bizarro ©

So I was told by a friend yesterday that I look like this guy. It is often said that everyone in life has a Bizarro. You know a person who looks exactly like you, only not. This guy's name is "Rory Cochrane" and apparently was on CSI for awhile. He was also in the movie "Empire Records."

Yeah well, I will let you be the judge.

Please pardon the writing, I have no idea where this pic came from, I just found it on google and linked to it for your amusement.

I, for one, think his face is a little chub school in comparison. Films today lack elements of interaction. There just aren't any Sam Spades or Joe Gillis' in American cinema today. Until now that is.

I offer for your approval a film. A film that in my honest opinion might be the best film I have seen all year. I mean sure, there are the Superman Returns, the Pirates of the C, and even the animated automobiles, but this is a film that aspires to tell a great detective story. A genre that hasn't been done well since Memento.

Our main character goes only by the moniker "Brendan." He lives in the underground world of high school drug cartels and a heirarchy of users and abusers. He has found his way out, until "She" forced him back in.

This film has everything, a femme fatale, an sly sleuth, double crosses, blurred lines, and ultimately, "...the stuf that dreams are made of." It is the Maltese Falcon set in the unseen world of high school popularity and the quest for power.

9/10 stars for this film

"I've got knives in my eyes, I'm going home sick."

Cart Monkeys ©

This is an old post from my previous blog, however, I did experience cart monkeydom just yesterday, which reminded of it. You can dock some points for posting the same blog twice, I'll take the hit.

Consider this blog belated. The events about to unfold actually occured yesterday, circa lunch time in my local Walmart parking lot. Yes, this blog is a rant. And yes, it could be potentially ranting on you, pending you act as one of the said monkeys in the title.

I know I have posted many a rant on this technological memoir we call the E-Wedgie, but none have the sheer magnitude of pet peevedness as the following.

Pet Peeve Numero Uno:
CHUMPZILLAS WHO FAIL TO RETURN THEIR SHOPPING CART TO THE CART CORRAL.

I cannot tell you how much I hate it when I find a spot and begin to whip the old gas gusseling Passat in there only to find that some cart monkey left his shopping cart right in that spot. What lazy buffoon can't do everyone the courtesy to put the cart in the corral spot like 10 yards away? So I'm stuck in this spot halfway now and have to decide whether to quickly get out and move the cart or reverse and try to find another spot this side of China in the Walmart parking lot on a Saturday in the suburbs (highly unfavorable position). I'll admit it I can get a little heated when it comes to driving. Then finding that I have to deal with someone's laziness on top of it well that just completes the value meal, if you catch my drift.

Then there's always the other side of cart monkeydom. This is when I come back from making a well designated purchase from said Walmart and come to find some chumpzilla left his cart in front of my parked car, making the probablity of it rolling and hitting my car that much more favorable. One time I actually found one kissed against my bumper. Let's just say I was losing testimony by the second.

My first question, "How?" How could someone be as lazy and uncourtesous to his fellow man as not to return the cart to the cart corral?

My second question, "Who?" Who was it that left their cart there and how can I get their address as to leave shopping carts on their front lawn?

My last question "What?" What the heck?

If you are the cart monkey, beware. I am on to you. I know how you roll. I got connections. One faithful day I will catch you dropping carts like it was nothing and you will then be entering into a world of pain.

New Blog ©

Hello blogging faithful,

I welcome all new readers to this forum of wits and rants, as well as all my old friends from the "E-Wedgie."

I have come to the conclusion that my blog has reached a point of magnitude that required it to have it's own website. Hence, the page you are reading. I have also changed my publication title to "Between The Lines." The reason for this was because I am migrating more to a "blogs that make you think" kind of feel, rather than my old "blogs that are outrageously and uncontrollably funny" feel. Will their be uncontrollable hilarity, yes, will there still be posts with randomized pictures of people gone wrong, of course. I just wanted a title that spawns thinking, and questioning.

That being said, I encourage you to read "between the lines," during your moments at work when the boss isn't around, or late at night when you have nothing to do, or even before you have your morning cup of glorious caffinated brew. Anyway you slice it, we here at BTL consider you, the reader, in the highest regard.

Checkout my website @ www.beckylovesjoe.com

Or read all my old entries at the "E-Wedgie" @ http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.ListAll&friendID=18122249

Until the next bit a late breaking news,

Joe
Editor in Chief
